Full mouth reconstruction, full mouth rehabilitation and full mouth restoration all describe a cosmetic treatment which rebuilds and simultaneously restores all the teeth in both the upper and lower jaws.
Full mouth reconstruction usually involves cosmetic and restorative dental treatments such as crowns, bridges and veneers. Dental specialists such as periodontists who specialize in the gums, oral surgeons, orthodontists, and endodontists who treat the tooth’s interior can also be brought in to assist with the treatments. A full mouth reconstruction may be needed when:
- Teeth have been lost because of decay or trauma
- Teeth have been fractured or damaged
- Teeth are extremely worn because of long-term acid erosion from acidic foods, beverages, and acid reflux or because of teeth grinding
- Persistent jaw, muscle, and headache pain which will require adjustments to the person’s bite
