Preventive Dentistry Procedures

At ToothHQ, when it comes to a happy, healthy, beautiful smile, we genuinely believe prevention is key. Our dental staff prefers preventive dentistry versus restorative dentistry. Our modern approach to dental care allows our dentists to detect symptoms of much more serious issues so we can treat them quickly.

  • Deep Teeth Cleaning

Also known in dentistry as root planing & scaling, deep teeth cleaning includes removing plaque and tartar from the surface of the teeth. A dental hygienist will perform scaling and root planing using electric or ultrasonic instruments or manual scaling instruments.

  • Fluoride Treatment

Professional fluoride treatments contain a high concentration of fluoride. These treatments are applied to a person’s teeth to improve oral health and reduce the risk of cavities. Fluoride is typically in the form of a gel, solution, or foam.

  • Mouthguards

Dental mouthguards are designed to absorb and disperse destructive forces of impact and mitigate traumatic injury to mouth tissues.

  • Oral Cancer Screening

Early detection and treatment is your best possibility of surviving oral cancer. Gum disease affects not only lifetime smokers but also young non-smokers. Oral cancer screenings should be a routine component of every regular dental exam.

Your Role in Gum Disease Prevention

The most crucial element of preventive dentistry is you. The preventive dental procedures discussed above are only valid if you regularly come into our dental office to utilize them. Furthermore, the significance of keeping a good oral hygiene routine at home can’t be exaggerated. Daily adequate teeth brushing and flossing will go a long way, removing the dental plaque responsible for gum disease and tooth loss.
